Read My Mind EP Lyrics

Why This Page Exists

I am a very lyric driven writer. For me, the storyline comes first, which is why I have this whole page on my website dedicated to lyrics. The Read My Mind EP was my first body of work, largely catalyzed by the loss of my 21 year old cousin to an overdose in 2024. ‘Go Fly, Baby,’ is a song I wrote for my aunt that originally was not meant for anyone’s ears but my family’s. After encouragement from them to release the song into the world, I decided to record a whole project, which I wanted to span different shades of emotion ranging from grief, to hope, to heartbreak and joy. Lyrics are the backbone to all songs I write, I view everything else as secondary when it comes to storytelling. I hope you enjoy exploring the lyrics below.

Lake Shore Drive was the lead single off of my debut EP, and was in many ways a love letter to Chicago, my home city that has served as the backdrop to so many formative experiences in my life.

Delulu Land was a song I wrote about coping with all-consuming existential dread. I wanted the song to be upbeat and silly to distract myself from the fear and sadness I felt about the state of the world.

As a child I really struggled to feel a sense of belonging. When you’re a kid and no one wants to sit with you on the bus, that feeling of isolation can pervade through adulthood (at least in my experience), and this song is about that.

This is a song I wrote about a very unserious situation that ended up accidentally becoming more serious than I had intended. It was, in retrospect, all a bit silly, and I wanted the song to mirror that feeling of silliness that I felt while living it.

The reason this EP exists is because of this song. I wrote it for my family after my aunt lost her 21 year old son, and I lost my cousin, to an overdose.
